Been in London from di forties, seen it all. Mi see chair come, chair go. Back then, South London rough, cold, but seat crack but it never mash up. Dem no see value in scratch and scar. Step in Portobello, armchair wid leather crack. Not pretty-pretty, but dem carry London inside. Back in de day, Armchair pass from father to son. Every scratch talk story. Man look pon we like crazy, but It creak but it strong. Mi can smell the leather now.

Furniture change wid di street. Kensington love velvet, wid plush sofa. Dalston funky, wid upcycled seat. Modern flat-pack? Dem carry no story. Old funky unusual accent chairs seat tell history. Mi speak plain, mi always choose retro over new. So next time you want chair, take armchair wid scar, and vintage accent chair let it shout London and Jamaica both.
