I’ve been in the trade man and boy for decades. Around these West End streets, folk are not merely choosing somewhere to park themselves. Designers with clients in tow, retro arm chairs and they all want character. A retro armchair, gives them that. A wingback ended up in a Belgravia study, and he told me years later it was still going strong. That’s what vintage means. People wander past the big chains, but they find themselves in Mayfair again. Cheap wood snaps, whereas real furniture stays.
Furniture mirrors the postcode. Kensington demands velvet, with buttoned wingbacks. Camden stays chaotic, with funky fabrics. That’s the mix. I’ll tell you something else, the right piece will define a home. Mass production never delivers it. I still sit to see how it feels, and the difference is clear. retro arm chairs has power. When a showroom tempts you, step back. Bring home something with story, and see how it shapes your home.
