What is a Parent Rota ?
Quite simply, a list of parents (or relatives) of our members who have agreed to help out on a Colony/Pack/Troop Nights.
Why do we need a Parent Rota ?
Although we may have enough leaders to run a Colony/Pack/Troop night, it's not always possible for them to attend every week. In order for us to meet our Adult to Child ratios we may require extra Adult helpers.
How often will I need volunteer ?
Due to the number of Beavers/Cubs/Scouts we have in the Colony/Pack/Troop you may be asked to volunteers at least once a term.
What will I be expected to do ?
If you volunteer as a parent helper you will not be expected to plan or run any events yourself. You might be asked to help out during activities or carry out small tasks e.g.
- Prepare Drinks
- Put out tables & chairs
- Help with games
Sometimes there might not be a lot to do but, the extra adult supervision may mean we're able to leave the Scout Hut for activities where the Adult to Child ratios are higher.
How do I sign up ?
Sign into the Parent Portal and select Programme from the menu
Will I need a Background Check?
No, parent helpers don't need a background check as you'll never be left alone with any of our members (including your own child/children). If you attend more than twice in any one term or are asked to attend overnight we may need to register you as an Occasional Helper and conduct a background check.
